Miguel Cotto is a retired Puerto Rican professional boxer who is considered one of the greatest boxers from Puerto Rico and one of the best of his era. Born on October 29, 1980, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Cotto had a highly successful career spanning from 2001 to 2017. He was known for his versatility, strong technical skills, and powerful punching ability.

Throughout his career, Cotto became the first Puerto Rican boxer to win world titles in four different weight classes: light welterweight, welterweight, light middleweight, and middleweight. He held multiple championships, including the WBO light welterweight title, WBA welterweight title, WBO welterweight title, WBA light middleweight title, and WBC middleweight title, among others.

Cotto faced and defeated several notable opponents, including Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, Ricardo Mayorga, Sergio Martínez, and Antonio Margarito in their rematch. He also fought some of the best fighters of his generation, such as Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, although those matches resulted in losses.
